The Importance of Art Response

Art is a valuable skill that many seem to look down on. Being skilled in subjects such as math or science seem to be valued more in general. Why is that? Why can't someone be better in the arts rather than algebra? The world is seriously discouraging those with artistic ability from using their full potential and building their skills for future opportunities.
Tax money is not being 'wasted' on the arts. There are many things you can argue on whether or not tax money is wasted on, but children's ability to learn how to express themselves creatively is not one of them. People argue that funding the arts is wrong and that students should be focusing more on subjects that 'help them in the workforce'. When in fact studying and practicing subjects such as art, music, or theater will prepare many for their careers. Careers in the art do exist and it is not right to push students from doing what they love. If people only want to fund classes that help in the workforce than why do they fund something like calculus, that is almost never used in daily life. By this same logic, where are the classes that teach students how to manage money or pay taxes? This would be extremely helpful for students and help them transition into adult life much easier.
All in all, art is not a waste of tax payers money. It is a valuable skill that many will need in their adult life, as well as being a way for students to express themselves. There should stop being such a serious stigma around pursuing a career in art, music, or any of the arts. Support people who want pursue art just as much as you would support someone who wants to become a doctor.
